10 Things to Consider When Designing a Website - Part 2
In our previous blog post, we outlined the first five things to consider when designing your business website. This blog post will focus on the next five things to consider. I believe that your website is the center, or hub, of your online presence. People will visit your site to learn about your business, company mission, services or products, industry-related information, contact info, and more. So it is essential to plan the design of your website with your internal team carefully or chose the right digital agency or web design firm that will work with you to accomplish your website design goals.
5. SEO-Optimized Content
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEO-optimized content play pivotal roles in ensuring the success of a business website. In today's digital landscape, where online visibility directly correlates with business success, effective SEO strategies are essential for attracting organic traffic and increasing a website's search engine rankings. By optimizing website content with relevant keywords, metadata, and quality backlinks, businesses can enhance their online presence, making it easier for potential customers to find them amidst the vast sea of internet content. Furthermore, SEO-driven content not only improves search engine rankings but also enhances user experience by providing valuable, informative, and engaging content that meets the needs and interests of the target audience. Ultimately, investing in SEO and SEO-driven content is crucial for businesses aiming to establish credibility, increase brand awareness, drive traffic, and ultimately achieve sustainable growth in the competitive online marketplace.6. Keep it simple and user friendly.
Your website should have a clean, engaging design and be easy to navigate. Invest some time into thinking about the layout, the customer journey, and functionality. Point the reader where you want them to go by including links to the pages you want them to read next. Utilize effective call to actions (CTAs) to encourage your visitors to contact you via phone or through a contact form.
7. Responsive Design
Make sure your website design is responsive, meaning that it translates to mobile phones, tablets, and the like. More and more people are browsing the web and purchasing from their phones, so your website will need to have that capability. Typically this is built-in to the design phase and tested on a variety of devices prior to website launch.
8. Call to Action(s)
Use "call to action" on webpages to promote lead generation and build your email mailing list. If you don't get a sale on the first view from a potential customer (which you typically won't) you can still grab their email by offering them a free e-book, a coupon, or some other type of freebie. Then you can email them periodically to hopefully turn them into a future customer.
9. Share it!
When your site is LIVE, make sure you share it with the world. Include share social media icons on your site on the homepage and blog posts to make it easy for people to share your website link with others. Also include your social icon buttons so people can follow or join your social accounts. Share your new website on your social accounts. Remember, drive traffic to your site at all times by promoting your new content.
10. Track it!
Don't forget to track the performance of your website. Sign up for Google Analytics and track your visitor demographics, what sites your visitors are referring from, and the keywords they used to find your website. This is all great information for helping you market to your target customer audience, determine which social media sites to market on, and what type of content works better for driving visitors to your site.
